8/18/04 A New Pigmy Show Has Been Announced !!!

AUG 28 2004
The Clubhouse
Tempe, AZ

8/12/04 Baby Sue has reviewed the PLC here..... http://www.babysue.com

8/02/04 Please come to Boston, the Pigs said yes. The boys jetted to Bean Town and stayed at the same hotel where a couple of the 9-11 hijackers stayed---too bad the big men weren’t there on 9-10 to quash their dastardly plans. The mini tour was one the best yet and PLC kicks ass harder than ever and new fans are cropping up all over the country. The guys hit Long Island in time to check out a young band that had a little singer guy who sounded like he had been huffing helium but the bugger had the prepubescent girlies squirming in their micro-minis. The hotel jacked the Pigs for their rooms so Shepherd drove straight through to Philly where it rained and rained but that didn’t hinder the Pigmy train one iota. The guys hooked up with some real nifty guys in a band called Sixtycycle. Kobie, Ronnie, Woody and Alex drank with the Pigs beer for beer, smoke for smoke and laugh for laugh. The Sixty boys were informed they had to change their name so Peter suggested, “Kracker Jackson---It just may stick. What a fun bunch of bros. The tour was a whirlwind and the great people the boys met were by far the best part. You can’t imagine how much PLC gets off on their friends on the road and hope to stay in contact with everyone they meet. The Pigmies are gathering to write a new album for next year and will still be touring sporadically throughout the next ten years so any rumors of the fellows calling it a day are greatly exaggerated. You can’t keep a good Pig down.

6/24/04 Here's a review of the PLC from San Jose:
The Circus is coming to town

PIGMY LOVE CIRCUS' `POWER OF BEEF': REAL ROCK BY REAL PEOPLE

By Brad Kava

Mercury News

The first thing you hear on the latest Pigmy Love Circus album, ``The Power of Beef,'' is the least likely instrument ever on a heavy metal
album: a banjo.

For about 25 seconds, a lot of metal fans probably thought they were victims of a packaging accident. Maybe a Bill Monroe disc got mislabeled. It happens.

But then, the Pigmies kick in full throttle with guitars, bass and drums to create the heavy metal thunder one has come to expect, crushing the little banjo, as in that old joke about perfect pitch (perfect pitch is when the banjo lands right in the dumpster).

The banjo is heard again later on the album, in a bit of the old American folk song ``Shenandoah'' on the closer, ``Madhouse Clown.''

``We are trying to take advantage of every texture,'' says drummer Danny Carey, who plays on the disc and is touring with the band during a break from his more famous outfit, Tool.

``So much metal is pretty flat-line,'' says Carey, from his Hollywood home. ``It's all heavy, . . . and some of the drumming is so complex it's mind-blowing. But there is absolutely zero dynamics. To me, it's absolutely unlistenable.''

Carey, who takes lessons on India's tabla drums, craves different sounds and dynamics. ``Otherwise, you are just banging your head against the wall,'' says the drummer, who was born 40 years ago in Paola, Kans., outside Kansas City.

The quartet had hoped to get a slot on this year's Ozzfest, but Carey says that, when Jack Osbourne went into rehab, they got left out. Their own national tour of smaller venues brings them to the Pound in San Francisco tonight.

``This is more full-on rock 'n' roll than Tool,'' says Carey. ``It's the pure energy transfer, rather than trying to express subtle art or concepts.''

Carey hooked up with the Pigmies after he arrived in Los Angeles from Kansas City in the mid-1980s. He heard them in clubs and loved what they did. When the band's drummer hurt his back, Carey was ready to step in.

``It's about a good time and good vibes. We keep the sense of humor
present,'' Carey says.

The 2003 album ``The Power of Beef'' has plenty of humor and plenty of beef.

Singer Michael Savage (no relation to the talk-show host) sounds as if he walked off the street and started singing about his life -- which, says Carey, is how some of the songs were created.

``We just start jamming, and Mike comes in and starts rambling. He's a great storyteller."

6/17/04 That Mike Savage sure looks scary---just ask anybody who was at the Key Club on Saturday night to celebrate the official release of The Power of Beef in record stores all over the country. He looked like some crazed creature that crawled up from the depths of the devil’s own musty dirt patch. Once again, the Pigmies proved that practice isn’t necessarily necessary and mosh pits are a good way to get your head cracked open.

A week earlier, the boys were in the high desert shooting a video for the song Pistolero Sleep. The winds blew nonstop at 80 to 100 miles per hour for 13 hours straight. Despite the adverse conditions, director Bob Sexton kept things moving as smoothly as possible. The camera just loves the Pigmys with their pretty-boy-baby-faces and fine chiseled physics---MTV is sure to put this gem into heavy rotation along with David Lee Roth and Toni Basil.

The Pigmy caravan heads up and down the coast this month then back to the Midwest and East coast in July so make your Pigmy plans accordingly. The handsome lads have also been nominated for the LA Music Awards. Who’d have thought? ---Are the Grammies going to come knocking next? In the mean time, tell your friends to rush out and pick up The Power of Beef so the guys can keep the PLC wagon rolling!

5/10/04 HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANNY!!!

5/6/04 The Digital Noise Web Site recently interviewed Danny and Mike. http://www.digital-noise.net

5/2/04 Rolling Stone posted a Pigmy Love Circus story on their web site.

4/19/04 Tales of the Pigwest
According to Savage, Justin Timberlake’s days are numbered as the big man has placed a bounty of $73.82 on the little nipper’s head. The noble Pigmy crooner is merely attempting to make the world safe for the likes of Janet Jackson and her precious rack. The Midwest tour started with red eye flights to Kansas City and a food poisoned Peter. The Pig plucker says “sorry” for being so unsociable while in KC but he didn’t want to projectile puke on any friends of the Pigmy nation.

The Piggys piled into their war chariot and throttled to The Ranch Bowl in Omaha, Nebraska and arrived just in time for family league night. Shepherd proved to be the top bowler and earned the nickname: “The Roller”. By any name, the man is a true hero and he made sure every Pigmy arrived safely to each city. There was plenty of road kill wrought in the Pigmy wake but the boys have to eat on the run and there is no time to be choosy. Danny cooks a mean Kansas City Skunk Soufflé while John Z’s specialty is Squirrel ala Bunion Custard with trail spice. Of course, Shep tops them all with his wonderful Pheasant under Armadillo Steak. Brilliant.

Minneapolis is such a nice city---even the street people asking for money are well dressed, well spoken and very polite and helpful. The Ascot Room was very spiffy with fancy doilies and even a fountain. The fountain apparently wasn’t stocked because Savage had his fishing line in it all afternoon and didn’t get one bite.

Wisconsin has these weird little things called Cheese Curds and some other type of pickled mystery ham chunks. Savage used these delights as deodorant and cologne and they were very effective. The only drawback is the Big Man is being constantly followed by a huge pack of stray dogs.

Every rock venue on the planet should be modeled after the Shelter in Detroit---What a vibe. Detroit is a great place and I don’t understand why that little Eminem fellah is so mad all the time. Maybe he should try some Cheese Curds and get a new kind of posse like Savage has. Pigmy brother Bwana was on hand to introduce the band and lend backing vocals.

Pez fanatic Peter scored a great set of crystal clear bug Pez in Indianapolis but lost the grasshopper so if anyone happens by the Big-K KMART in Indie, he would love a replacement. Who says LA has everything.

Then the big rush to get Danny to St. Louis, Missouri so wouldn’t miss the KU/Georgia-Tech play off game. Danny is a great basket-baller and is currently on a celebrity team in LA. KC nearly pulled it off but Georgia-Tech took it in overtime. “The horror…the horror” was all the Pigmy pounder could utter for the rest of the evening.

The Pigs love the Midwest and can’t wait to come through again. The “Power of Beef” is being remastered and will be released in stores in June so it will be easier to get your daily requirement of pure Pigmy protein.

So long for now and avoid foods that cause bad dreams.

5/6/03 Pigmy Love Circus at the Key Club

What's this? Tired old fuckers trying to rock out with their cocks out and not get laughed off the slab? Well, fortunately for the Pigmy's they have Mike Savage's giant rig representing so any laughs are saved for U2 and The Strokes. The Pig's proved again that age holds no rod over true rockers and rock holds no quarter for pussys. Their sold out show at the Key Club confirmed that the Pig's are ready to swat the world on the back of head after umpteen years of slugging it out in the grim haunts of underground LA. Savage whipped the boys through a few classic pig standards like 'King of LA', ' No More War' and 'Dagwood Killed Blondie' then sawed through 'Livin' Like Shit' 'Drug run to Fontana' and 'Swamp Creature' from their upcoming long player: "The Power of Beef". The climax was the debut of their newest mini-epic called 'Train to Hell'. As long as blood spills down their haggard veins, the Pigmy Love Circus will persevere and that's good thing---'cause without the Pigmies the world would be just another rock hurling through space.
---Forrest Groat

4/17/03 After overstuffing Spaceland and giving the Silverlake Fire Marshall a shit hemorrhage---the Pigmys will be playing the much larger Key Club on the Sunset Strip on Saturday, May 3rd at 10:00 PM. The Pigs have been eating loads of red meat and honing their live set. They may debut their newest song "Train to Hell" but the Pigs demand perfection! Finishing touches on the CD happen this week so get ready for the onslaught of the Power of Beef!
----Forrest Groat
(9039 Sunset Blvd. Doors open at 7 PM Admission $10. ~ 16 and up.)

2/28/03 Spaceland in Silverlake will be the sight of ugliness and brutality. Pigmy Love Circus will take the stage March 20th at 10:00 PM. Also on the bill is Silver, 400 Blows and Dashboard Prophets. The Pigmy's are not responsible for any cuts, bruises or hangovers---but you can expect several.
Forrest Groat

(10/28/02) Some questions put forth to Pigmy guitarist, Peter Fletcher, by rock journalist Paul (Puppy) Rogers. This interview is the basis for an up coming article in England's rock magazine: Metal Hammer (click here) <interview10_28.html>

(9/20/02) The Pigmys recorded a version of Motorhead's 'Jailbait' Friday night and filmed a segment for a new movie of the same name. Peter, Danny, Shepherd and Savage slammed out an outrageously frantic arrangement with engineer Mike Cuddy in one beer soaked six-hour session. One bystander at the session was overheard remarking: "My hips hurt". The Pigs promise their mythical album will be out by the new year and then the rest of the world will share the joy of what only a very, very few have thus far heard---being one of those few I can safely say that the world is in for a great shock!

....Forrest Groat

The NEW TIMES has written up a big ass article on the PLC that fans won't want to miss. (click here) .

The Pigmys are back-- Look for a 2003 release of their new album with the working title of The Power of Beef , There are rumors of a tour in the spring.
